LMFT, LPC - TX & FL - BCBS, Cigna, Optum, Aetna

(Accepting New Clients)

I am a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), trauma-informed therapist, wellness strategist and transformational coach based in Houston. I am the founder of  The Conversation Spot, a behavioral wellness practice dedicated to helping individuals, couples, families, leaders, and justice-involved populations heal, rebuild, and thrive.

With over a decade of experience in the mental health field, I specialize in trauma, anxiety, depression, emotional regulation, relationship challenges, life transitions, and faith-integrated counseling. I conduct sessions conversational style, with a client centered approach.  My clients value my direct approach and my passion for dealing with "all parts" of who you are. My approach combines evidence-based therapy with compassionate support to help clients move beyond survival mode and toward healing, clarity, and personal transformation.

I am passionate about helping people uncover root issues, break unhealthy patterns, heal inner child and build healthier relationships with themselves and others. In addition to therapy services, I also lead behavioral wellness programs, SOP/IOP substance abuse groups, workshops, and transformational conversations focused on emotional wellness, resilience, and growth.

I help women and men navigate through transitional seasons. As a believer I have had to experience healing myself and understand that it's not easy but necessary in order for one to continue to thrive in their personal and professional lives and in their roles & communities.

Through my work, I create safe spaces where healing, faith, restoration, and meaningful change can take place.

In my spare I like to spend time with family, travel, and dance.

Lakisha Winter - Therapist in Houston

Lakisha Winter

LPC - Associate TX BCBS, Cigna, EAP Supervised by: Dr. Franchesca M. Garza-Fraire, PhD, LPC-S, NCC, NCSC

I am a counselor who believes life is a melody, filled with different rhythms, seasons, highs, lows, and moments that shape who we are. Sometimes life feels harmonious, while other times it can feel overwhelming, uncertain, or emotionally heavy. My goal is to help clients reconnect with themselves, find balance within their lives, and create space for healing, growth, and self-discovery in a way that feels authentic and meaningful to them.

I hold a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and a Bachelor’s degree in Family Studies and Gerontology. My therapeutic foundation is rooted in psychodynamic counseling, where I explore how life experiences, relationships, and emotional patterns can influence present-day challenges. At the same time, I understand that every client’s needs are unique, so thoughtfully integrate

approaches such as CBT, ACT, DBT, mindfulness, and relational interventions in ways that are personalized to support each individual’s journey.

My approach to therapy is warm, conversational, and relational. I strive to create an environment where clients feel comfortable showing up as themselves without fear of judgment. I work with individuals, couples, families, adolescents, and groups navigating anxiety, trauma, grief, self-esteem concerns, relationship challenges, emotional stress, life transitions, communication difficulties, and personal growth. I also enjoy helping clients increase emotional awareness, strengthen coping skills, build healthier relationships, and better understand patterns that may be impacting their lives.

My faith is an important part of who I am and serves as a foundation for compassion, grace, hope, and human connection. While I honor and respect every client’s beliefs and background, I believe healing often begins when people feel truly seen, heard, and accepted. I welcome the opportunity to incorporate faith-based perspectives and Christian principles into the therapeutic process in a way that feels supportive and aligned with their values.

I believe therapy is not about perfection; it is about becoming more connected to yourself, your story, and the life you desire to create. Whether you are navigating a difficult season, processing past experiences, strengthening relationships, or simply seeking a safe space to breathe and grow, I would be honored to walk alongside you as you move toward healing, wholeness, and emotional wellness one step at a time.
